2016: The Beginning

The beginning of our journey at the Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) at ETH Zurich, where a group of visionary individuals embarked on a mission to develop an omnidirectional flying inspection robot.

2019: Incorporation

Incorporation of Voliro with support by Wyss Zurich, a unique accelerator, embedded within the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. 

2022: Early Adopter Phase

Launch of the Voliro T flying robot after years of technology research, optimization, and successful field validation in collaboration with selected early adopters like Shell, Petronas and Holcim.

2023: General Availability

Commercial adoption by world-renowned leaders in the Non-Destructive Testing industry, including Mistras, Acuren, Team Inc. and numerous others globally.

Florian is the CEO of Voliro, where he leads a team of passionate engineers and experts dedicated to creating innovative solutions for diverse industries and applications. With a remarkable track record spanning over 30 years in the information technology sector, including the founding and growth of Open Systems into one of the world's most successful Security as a Service providers, Florian brings a profound understanding of innovation and venture building. His entrepreneurial experience in building and scaling businesses align seamlessly with the innovative nature of Voliro's unique technology. Beyond his role as CEO, he's also an angel investor and mentor.
Timo Müller

COO, co-founder
Timo is the Co-founder and COO at Voliro, where he's on a mission to develop the most advanced aerial robot for work at height. Driven by his fascination with aviation and high-tech, Timo pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich. During his master's thesis, he conceived the concept and crafted the initial prototype of the Voliro T omnidirectional drone. Following his graduation, the entrepreneurial journey took flight with the founding of Voliro AG. Since then, Timo has been dedicated to bringing innovation to the market, shaping both the product and the company, and contributing to the future of autonomous flying robots.
Dr. Marius Fehr

Marius is Co-Founder and CTO of Voliro. Marius brings over a decade of profound expertise in robotics with a sharp focus on camera and LIDAR mapping, as well as autonomous path planning. Marius holds a Ph.D. in computer vision and robotics and since 2020 has been leading the development of the Voliro T aerial robotics platform. Marius' responsibilities encompass the full spectrum of project and engineering management, technology leadership, innovation, system architecture, and software development. His remarkable understanding of robotics innovations seamlessly bridges the gap between research and commercial application.

Head of Business Development
Chris serves as the Head of Business Development at Voliro, where he leverages over two decades of industry expertise as engineer and product manager with sharp focus on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and flaw detection, particularly in the power sector. Chris' extensive background has given him a deep understanding of industry pain points, enabling him to find innovative solutions and empower companies to achieve their goals with unparalleled efficiency.

Simon serves as the VP of Finance at Voliro, bringing extensive experience of running and building finance and operations departments in various startups and scaleups. Simon holds a M.A. in law and economics hence combines a strong legal background with financial acumen. An entrepreneurial spirit at heart, he thrives on collaborating with ambitious individuals and organizations. Simon is dedicated to driving financial excellence and innovation within the Voliro team.

With four years in the drone and autonomous systems industry and an impressive 12-year background in customer success and product marketing, Laurent plays a pivotal role in delivering an unmatched experience for inspection teams utilizing Voliro for aerial industrial inspections. His unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong interpersonal skills allows him to bridge the gap between tech teams, business stakeholders, and customers, creatively solving complex business challenges with cutting-edge technology.

Matthias Bichsel has over 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He held a number of roles over his 34-year career with Shell, including director of Petroleum Development Oman, MD of deepwater services in Houston, executive vice president global exploration and executive vice president technical of Shell Upstream.

Roland Siegwart is Professor for Autonomous Systems and Director of the Wyss Zurich at ETH Zurich. He is a recipient of the IEEE RAS Pioneer Award and one of the most cited researchers in robotics.
